Portacapture X8
Does the X8 produce a file for each track recorded? I’d like to be able to record with four external mics plugged in via XLR and then export each mic’s recordings as individual stems in Logic, so I can then eq each stem and mix them down into a song.

Or does the X8 only produce a stereo file by merging everything, regardless of how many mics are plugged into it at one time?

I’m a singer / songwriter and am thinking the X8 would be a fantastic on the go way to record my songs using four external mics, placed around me. I could also use all the XLR jacks to record individual drums of a kit and then mix resulting stems in Logic as well.

I guess what I’m asking is can it replace an interface?

Hope this makes sense! Many thanks for your help and advice.

The Portacapture X8 is advertised as a multi-track portable recorder, capable of 6 simultaneous individual tracks + stereo mix (hence the "8"). Captured audio is saved internally as regular wave files, please refer to the manual for details.
