Hello,
Im trying to setup a behringer p16 into my dm3200 by adat, but it doesnt seems to be working.
Is there any routing that i need to do on the dm3200?
I wanna use it into my live room so the drummer can set up his own headphone mix.
Im using pro tools 10/11, so theres any i/o setup i need to do there too?
Thx in advance

I think its a question of going into the routing menu and routing those specific adat channels back to channels on your DM desk, say 1 to 8 or something. I had to do the same with my UA4710, as I used the adat out of the UA to the adat in on the DM4800, then routed those adat channels back to Ch 17 onwards for me.

I believe its in the routing button (page) of the mixer, then the input section, chose adat (as you can choose other things here like tdiff etc) then route each adat to one of the physical channels you want to use. You end up using the scroll wheel to change the ins and outs - the manual should be able to explain better than I can as I am not in front of my console right now..or one of the other gurus on this forum will be able to help. They are supper knowledgeable.

Hi Carlos, and welcome! Yeah, select the routing button, then use the Output tab, and work from right to left. On the Source Select side, use All or Buss/Direct, then in the middle for Terminal Select select ADAT and then on the left, Output Select, select the channels you want to send to ADAT 1-8.

Depending on your sources, you could also use Busses (like mentioned above) to be able to mix a number of input channels (from IFFW/DM for instance) to a single or stereo Buss channel. Say, 5 guitar tracks incoming can be sub mixed to stereo on two Buss channels and then sent to two of the ADAT channels. Hope this helps.

Guys, thanks so much for the answers, it worked like a charm!
But help in this one too, please; I have a pre-recorded session os PT10 and let's say that I want to put the bass track to my drummer that's using a power play P16. He can hear and mix the drums we are recording but how can I send him the pre-recorded bass track?

Hmm not sure about that regarding the output of protools as I use logic. However I have set my outs from logic to the return channels of the mixer as you will likely have done. Then I just send whatever return channel the bass is going to to the aux send which goes to my power play system. So basically I use all the Aux sends to go to the powerplay. I dont tend to use them as effects send and returns so I use them as monitor sends instead.

I can set whatever ch in logic to output to the desk and send that via the aux sends on the return channel. With the Power Play system and using the fill aux's on the DM I send 4 pairs of stereo headphone sends to the recording room.

Its pretty good when the artist can pick his own mix but what I find most of the time is that they dont know how to use the powerplay system. I still end up having to do the headphone mix for them....Still some people are ok with it.

Thx for the answer Gary! But are you sending the tracks on logic via adat?

Hey Carlos,

We send out outs from logic X to the firewire card via firewire that we then route to the returns layer (ch 25 and above). I dont think it matters to much as if your using adat out (of a mac) to the console (and not using the firewire card) you would route those adat return channels to the return layer of the DM, then you can send whatever return layer channel you pick (say your drums) to an Aux channel which goes to the powerplay. You could effectively turn up the track in pro tools or on the aux send to increase the volume. The Aux send makes more sense as it has no baring on what your monitoring from pro tools so at least you dont get a volume rise when monitoring from your control space.
