Hopefully this will be any easy fix but I can't seem to figure it out. I recently made some changes to my midi setup to try and cure a problem with Cubase's delay compensation. I've cured the delay compensation problem but now I have another issue between Cubase and the DM. I have the (Mackie)fader control/machine control setup done properly (in Cubase and the DM) and have double checked everything, however the DM is now being controlled by Cubase and not the other way around. Even in Remote Layer when I press play or stop, etc. on the DM nothing happens. If I press play, stop, etc. in Cubase it controls the DM. Could this be a Project Synchronization setting problem in Cubase? I tried several different changes in that Cubase tab but nothing helped. I also saw older forum posts relating to similar issues that pointed to possible issues with USB hubs, which I do have, and possible issues with the TMC companion. I took the USB hub advice and hooked up all USB devices, except for the DM, to the hub. I also uninstalled the TMC software and re-installed. Unfortunately neither of those possible remedies helped. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Cubase 8.0.30 (64bit), DM4800. Thanks again, Steve

Use TMC to create a screenshot of your MIDI setup page as well as your machine control setup pages and upload it to the site so we can see.

Here's the requested screenshots.
Note - When I press the play button or touch any of the faders in Remote Layer, the midi input in the Cubase Transport Pane jumps/registers an input. Thanks for your help Charlie. Steve

You have USB 2 and 4 disconnected on the dm setup screen. You need to enable them like the rest

USB 2 and 4 are now connected but still no change in DM control. The Cubase midi input in the Transport bar still registers/jumps when I hit play, stop, or any fader. Ant other suggestions? Thanks Charlie.

Yeah I realized that after I had sent... Damn it all looks right. Let me compare again with my setup.

  • I'd first try hitting "RESET" on that MIDI device screen and see if that fixes it.
  • Are all your Mackie controls set correctly in Cubase under device setup? No screenshot of that
  • Does Windows see the DM USB Connection?
  • In Cubase on the floating transport, make sure sync is not activated.
  • Do you have a DM template prior to your changes that you can load to see if it's something that was changed on the DM?
  • If the DM is not the culprit, load Cubase in safe mode and set up Mackie Control to determine if the problem is on the Cubase side.
Beyond that, I'm at a loss.

The midi device screen reset was the culprit. I had already tried that and it didn't work the first time, but now it's working. Thanks Charlie for all the help !! Much appreciated and so thankful for the helpful folks on this site. Steve
