Play along with a track

I have a model 12, can I simply record a track with my guitar, then play my guitar along with it immediately thereafter, without recording with the guitar plugged into the same track. Sort of like a looper. When I play the track back I can’t hear my guitar through the monitors.

You need to learn/understand the difference between tracks and inputs, as well as routing. This is all in the manual, and several forums here have "sticky posts" (compiled at great effort by experienced forum members) with a VAST wealth of info on use of Tascam equipment and studio techniques.

Bottom line: Tascam gear is not a box of pudding mix. You must learn/understand the gear to be able to even use it, let alone accomplish your aims/needs with it.

Agree with @shredd. Anyway, this is my free hint for today: switch the input selector to MTR, arm channel REC (flashing red) and press PLAY .

@Firebat, just follow the instructions in Section 5 of the Owner Manual and you should be good to go. No need to repeat the instructions here.

And I agree with shredd. The Model 12 is pro level gear. Effective use requires a working knowledge and application of the information found in the OM.
