DM3200
I am fortunate to have been given a DM3200 from a friend who has since passed away. I'm not sure how long he worked this board but he was a fan of it. Daily I'm trying to understand it but it is a serious learn. Searching this forum has been a blessing but I can't seem to find a thread that relates to my situation.

Sidebar: I do have an AVIOM ANET transmitter recieving signal for the all 16 channel inserts. I can hear and confirm there is signal passing through from all 16 inserts. It could be the AVIOM unit but I don't believe it is. I have this issue when using Studio One as well, without the AVIOM connected.

ISSUE:
I'm having a problem getting consisent audible volume levels from my XLR inputs I have all channel trims at equal levels and at the same mic/line db level. I am on layer status 1-16.

With faders down I can hear and see signal on my MU1000 meter for Channel 1 and 3 left and channels 2-4 right. When I raise faders I hear additional volume. These four channels show signal on the stereo meter and Jog/Data Meter as well. Channel 1 sound stronger more bass then 2,3,4

Channels 5-8, Show signal on my MU1000 meter unit Channel 8 is stonger, more bass then 2-7

9-12. 13-16, have MU1000 meter lights, but less strong, less punch or not much bass or punch in both the AVIOM and in the Control room. Stereo faders have signal when channel faders are increased.

My suspicion or hope is there is a module, screen mode, or encoder, that is controlling these volume levels. I feel like once i gain this understanding, I will begin a new understanding of this board but as of now I'm confused.

Thanks for reading and for taking the time to answer.

At the risk of my response sounding incredibly over simplified, I would tend to lean more toward this being a routing issue. Almost as if there were several audio sources routed to the same channels. I wish that I could be of more help. I am certain that one of the DM gurus will weigh in at some point soon. Best of luck. Peter

Perform a factory reset and see if the issue persists. That is the best place to start, otherwise you'll wind up chasing your tail.

Thanks JL Bowie. That thought crosses my mind daily but I keep holding off. I had to update firmare which was a titanic process and I would like to avoid that until absolutely necessary.

I did dial down the encoders. I believe I was getting inconsistent signal input levels (a recent post) due to a gate/dyn setting and balance issues from AUX. My buddy may of had some settings stored as such for his studio, or I fiddle around to much and messed things up. I still have the nuclear option if needed.

These boards have very complex routing options, and trying to take one over with someone else's preferences keyed in could lead to far more frustration than just clearing the slate and setting it up yourself, believe me. You are also correct in your hope that there are indeed modules within the various menus that are available to tweak I/O levels and routing preferences far beyond the physical ones on the panel, making it even more important that everything be zeroed out to eliminate loopback/summing issues that could be causing some of your current issues.
By the way, the manual is well broken down to task, and you will find it to be your best friend for awhile. Ignore it at your peril (Only kidding a little, seriously). You can also find a PDF version at Tascam.com that you can throw on your iPad to consume at will.
