Hello all,

I own a DM4800 with firewire card that has been rock solid for years, now all of a sudden I can't get my first 8 channels to work? My setup is a fixed install with 24 analog inputs and 8 digital and I haven't changed the routing since I got it, but all of a sudden my first 8 M/L don't seem to work at all?

Anyone have any ideas on troubleshooting this? I've got a dynamic mic plugged into channel 1 and I get nothing. Help? Anyone?

What do you mean with 'don't work'? Faders have no response, no audio coming through, no indication of meters, etc.?

Sorry, yes I mean nothing whatsoever. No signal, no meters, nothing.

I'm going into channel 1 mic level with a good old SM57 and nothing is happening on the board. Channel 1 is set to M/L 1, and I'm going in at 0 with my gain set around noon. Not even a flicker of activity. The same settings on channel 9 yield meters, levels, etc.

This happens with both MIC and LINE inputs?
Is phantom power on or off?

Going to try it with line input tonight. So far mic inputs are totally dead though.

I've tried a basic new project with the same result, yes. Hoping it's something simple like a ribbon cable that's loose or something, but I have not cracked it open or anything.

If his routing page has M/L on channels 1-8 he should see at the very least his meters registering an input signal. The fact that he can't get it working on a bank of 8 inputs may indicate a HW issue.

Sorry for the delayed response folks. Thanks for all the input so far!

Line in does not work either on channels 1-8 unfortunately so I'm thinking it's a hardware problem at this point. I'm definitely not too keen on the idea of opening this beast up but I'm not sure what else to do. Any suggestions? I'm not a tech but I am somewhat adventurous!

Does anyone know if there are ribbon cables and easy connectivity inside the board? I could probably reseat any connections like that but anything more I'd definitely have to refer to a professional.
