Dm4800
I have a dm4800 controlling the first 24 tracks of a presonus one project,
but the 10 mix group busses for 153 tracks I created are what I want to control. So I can mix with the faders at the console of the dm4800

@blane Lee Brilliant. Your persistence paid off in a big way by the sounds of it. I plan on reading your post a few things so that I might wrap my head around your workflow. Have you considered putting together a video tutorial of the setup. That would be very interesting indeed. Glad to hear that you sorted things out. Have a great evening / week.

Here is the perfect set up to have either 22 mono faders or 12 stereo faders on the DM 4800 to act as a mixing console in a mix of 153 tracks in Presonus. I always leave 17 18 on the DM as the main outs from Presonus so I skip these. They are central to my chair and marked as mains. After recording all tracks, make pack folders of the 11 parts of a song. Intro Voc//Body Voc//Rhythm//Intro Keys//Body keys...
Sub Mix all parts in each folder inside of presonus until they sound as one mix in each folder. Now instead of settling for the whole mix, take each folder to the DM and see how different it becomes when you're no longer looking at the daw. Your entire focus is on sound. Now the DM becomes your daw and it is awesome. Three points got me here, pack folders, bussing each to their respective buss, which I made in presonus so that I could mix each folder of tracks with the thousands of dollars of software I have, and third, returning to the folders, now that they sound perfect, and sending them to 1 2 // 3 4 // 5 6 // 7 8 //... skipping 17 18 of the DM.
In presonus one pro 6, you have a given plugin called pipeline. So after making ins and outs and naming them in the i/o, of the song setup, you close your first folder and select that folder track, hit the Inspector button on the top left and you'll see the insert/send page. If not go slowly upward with the mouse until you come between sections where you can pull down what is covering it up. Make sure no solo of any track inside the folder is on. Now hit browse on the right bottom and 'effects' on top and find presonus// Pipeline. Drag that plugin all the way over to the send section of that first folder. open it and select input of 1 2 to DM if you named the in that like I did. Now on the right of the plugin, select the output and load 1 2 from DM. This is for later after you're finished on the DM mix. There is another way to get your folders to individual i/o but this works. You're all set, almost. The DM set up is next. alt. routing, input, and set all 24 track inputs off of M/L to output slot 1/2 3/4 5/6 ... if you have the FW 24 in 24 out card. Go to output slot and set them all to direct out. Lastly, two things, if stereo, link 1/2 3/4 ... by holding down sel button of fader 1 and hitting sel of fader 2. Hit enter. lastly, touch sel button 1 and then top left, hit 1 and 2 and then move to the right and hit the stereo button and deselect the direct out button for now. Solo your first folder and you'll see and hear it on 1 and 2 of the DM. Remember, you deselected direct outs but you can always reselect them and deselect the stereo button to return your individual tracks back where they came from and they will go right to their busses which go to the main out, which returns to 17 18 of the DM for monitoring. If you do not deselect stereo, you'll get a double dose on the DM main fader. I did forget to say that you'll need to be in layer status ch1-24 and not remote of the DM. From there, did you know the DM has automation?? Can't wait, blane
