Hi guys - I'd even be willing to offer someone a small tutorial fee if you would jump on skype or something with me and talk me through the best routing system for the FireWire card using Logic X as the DAW.

In a nutshell - foremost I would like to use the tascam as an interface with 24 channels. And then secondly, come back out of logic into the tascam to mix with the second layer of channels. Then I'd like to use the 8 aux channels for my outboard gear.

I've read and watched EVERYTHING there is online - multiple times through the entire owners manual - and I'm still not right. Best I've managed to get is faders working but not on the correct channels.

I'd like to use inputs 1-24 as mic/lines into the 4800, and then out into logic, so that when I create a track in logic my choices are inputs 1-24.

Should I then route M/L 1-24 as returns as well? And then I should route outputs as slot 1-1, etc...right?

Can I do this? What am I missing?

So I can get audio signal to the DM (and through my monitors) with by INPUT routing M/L 1-24 to Channels 1-24. I have read elsewhere to have Slot 1-24( or 32) routed to channels 1-24 (the first layer), but I cannot get any signal or sound of the board that way.

So I have audio but now.... NO SIGNAL TO LOGIC? When I create a track - 1 line in Channel 1 on the DM - I select Input 1 and Output 1 in Logic. Is that wrong?

My OUTPUT SLOT routing is Slot 1 1--32.

Thoughts?

Oh - FYI the remote layer is working fine as well. (except it recognizes the master fader and the stereo out fader as faders 1 and 2....and tacks them on the end of all the faders as you add on....)

OK - so that I don't annoy people. I now have signal into logic by choosing slot 1 1-24 as my input routing.

in my output slot routing I have M/L 1-24.

That seems to be giving me what I need right now.

HOWEVER - When I select anything but "Stereo out" as my output on logic - I get a mono signal to my stereo out channel in logic, with a reduced volume.

I thought I should be choosing the output I have assigned in the DM? When i do that, I get a shit L mono signal only.

I could probably lead you through settings on the DM4800. I feel like I know the board pretty well. I am not a Logic user though. The board is very flexible and there are multiple ways to do almost everything.

In all honesty, if you are using the firewire card, the interaction with your DAW is likely to be relatively straight forward.
