Will cleaning a track delete Audio from the folder?

Hello fellow recorders,
I have had my model 16 for quite some time now, but never faced this recording situation before.
I will be recording an entire band this weekend and here is my question: I would love to erase our main vocalist from the live recording, say from track 1, to free it up to record better vocal takes without all the bleed from the drums etc.
If I did free up track 1, would the original vocal track also be erased from the song folder or would I still be able to find and Import it to my DAW after the session is done?

The best policy is to backup the SD card and keep good documentation of the changes you've made. That way, none of those questions matter because you've keep everything. You can just delete whatever tracks and see what happens, being confident that you can recover with your backup copy.

Thanks for the quick answer! Backing up of course would require having a notebook nearby, which would pose the question why I would not directly record into a DAW from the getgo....I have to further think this through I guess...

Clearing a track will erase it from the SD; different thing is if you do it by mistake and don't overwrite it, you can recover data with a rescue application.
About your recording session:
a portable backup solution without a computer is possible if you have an Android phone: use a USB SD/microSD card reader connected to the phone with an OTG adapter, then use the file manager app to copy Song folder to the phone. You can also use this method to duplicate the song folder on the SD card, provided you use unique filenames.
Another possible solution is exporting the stereo mixdown of the first take into the MUSIC folder on the SD card, create a new song and import the exported (stereo) mixdown to use as a guide for recording new tracks. Your choice to leave the first vocal track in or out of the mixdown, anyway at the end you will have two folders of recorded tracks available for DAW processing.

This has been true for ANYthing having to do with computers...for DECADES...and nowadays, with so many digital-based devices using computer-style storage - it's truer than ever.
