Egads.
I ran 2488’s (all 3 iterations) in my studio for over 15 years…loved ’em; but: one of the most memorable aspects of them was their absurd proprietary operating systems, one of the most difficult areas of which to navigate was - you guessed it - backing up & transferring data, whether it was tracks, songs, ANYthing.

When I made my final transition from my 2488neo to my new DP-32…the effort to move the work I’d done was agonizing and not entirely successful. But I’ll try to help…
One of the things I remember best is that all the track/song data in the “working” partitions of the HD are TOTALLY inaccessible via computer connection - their in some sort of proprietary format/file type.
The ONLY way to access them/get them out of the ‘88 was by “exporting” them (via the in-menu utilities) to the FAT partition, which can be accessed by a puter via the USB connection (or burned to a CD, as I recall, though I never once did so).
Another thing I remember about this process is that it’s absurdly complicated, painfully slow, and I was never able to do more than 1 song at a time.
AND there were some that I simply couldn’t accomplish, and lost the work.
All this, compared to the chin-drooling ease of track/song import/export of the DP.
I’ve never so much as laid eyes on a ModelXX (let alone used one)…but as it’s intended mainly as a live-mixer platform & DAW interface (but just happens to have recording capability built in) - you might end up focusing on simply getting your ‘88’s trax into your puter (or the ModelXX’s SD card) for use in those ways (like importing them into new DAW projects?)
Anyway - as the Village Idiot around here, that’s about the extent of my knowledge…hope any of that is helpful…
And - FWIW - therez a coupla guys on ytube that were
clearly super-bigtime 2488 masters and posted oodles of vids on them…so that might be a good resource.
Anyway - good luck-
