Tascam M12
We plan to make our first recording on our Tascam M12. We know, that we have to put the M12 into the DAW mode. So far so good. But what do we see on the Cubase side?

Where will the M12 appear, and how? Suppose, we have a guitar plugged in into the M12, what action would be needed on the computers side? In this case, i'm talking about somehow "seeing" the guitar track in Cubase, in order to apply some amp simulation, or other effects.

Currently i don't have the slightest idea, and i believe there is also no hint in the manual, how to operate on the DAW side.

Thanks for pointing me to some of my older threads. But it's still not very clear, what we would see on Cubase's side. Is there any "Tascam 12" entry, when we open the SENDS function? We'd like to have the first test/recording this week, and i'm afraid, that we wouldn't be able to figure out the details, like it was the last time we tried it. We didn't find any hint, that the M12 would be present anywhere. But i'm going to have a look in that manual right now.

Edit/

The manual mentions MIDI controls. But in this case we want to have the guitar's audio running through Cubase, so that we could apply amp simulations and effects, 'live' on the guitar track. Sorry to have to ask once again, but when we are having our session this week, i would like to know exactly, how to achieve this. But hopefully that answer from Max Relic works well.

In DAW mode the Model 12 works like a MIDI controller and its mixer/multitrack functions are unavailable. Your goal is easily achieved in normal operation whereas the Model 12 sends live input signals over USB to the computer; from there you can apply effects at send individual channels back to the Model 12 like you would do with a regular effects rack. A short description is here
Feel free to search in this forum section for tips and tricks.

When connected over USB in normal mode the Model 12 is seen from the pc as a multi-input/output audio interface. As such, in your DAW you should be able to select which Model 12 inputs to use as a source for a given channel, on which you may want to apply effects; then you will route that same DAW channel to a Model 12 output, on the Model 12 the input source switch must be on "PC" in order to listen to the effect. The Send Point is set in the menu.
If the above makes some sense to you then you will hopefully be a happy camper, otherwise you will have to work your way with a little effort and patience.

Yeah, cool. I guess, once we were able to have our first success, recording a track with some effect, the rest will be almost self explaining.

Thanks a lot!

I forgot to mention that on a Windows pc you may have to try a different audio driver (ASIO I think), using the Model 12 on Mac is straightforward.
