Model 12
Hi All,

Apologies if this question is posted elsewhere, but my search attempts have yielded nothing. So. . . I'm in DAW mode on my Model 12, in Studio One. When I use the buttons to move tracks, nothing visual happens in S1 until I rec arm the track. Even then, the newly armed track isn't selected. This is contrary to the way my Faderport 6, and other MIDI controllers have worked. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Jeff

Thanks for the reply. I did. Hence my question. :) The sliders work, the markers work, the jog wheel works, etc. I figured out that I need to press the cycle button and F3 or F4 to shift banks so that I can use the knobs, etc. I'm just not seeing it indicate a track selection so that I know where I am by looking at either the display or the DAW. The manual to which you refer doesn't address that, one way or another. I guess it's just something to get used to, but it would be nice to have visual feedback as to which tracks the M12 is controlling before I start moving things. Like, if the dots on the screen indicate a selection, or at least displayed the correct track numbers. Does that make sense?

I guess it does. Since I use the Model 12 exclusively in standalone mode hopefully it saves me from having to deal with its shortcomings as a controller interface. Should I need a remote controller for Logic Pro I would probably pick a more suitable device than the Model 12.

Fair enough. I haven't sold my Faderport yet, so I'll see how I get along. Perhaps I'll just use the M12 for input (my synths are running through it), and stand-alone when I have the rare recording gig. Then the Faderport 8 for DAW control. I'll see how I get on first, was planning on selling the FP to help recoup some of the cost of the M12. :p Thanks, though!

With 100mm faders that's pretty decent though it comes at a higher price tag than most of the competition. For smooth fade in/out the Model 12 faders are challenging at best, my little Mackie 1402 beats it hands down.

I was wondering about that, but to be honest, I tend to prefer drawing in automation. It seems that when I record it, it takes me 2 or 3 takes, but when I draw it, then it's accurate. I haven't tried DAWless yet, so that will be an interesting thing to attempt.
