Model 12
Hi, I am a guitarist and lucky owner of a Tascam Model 12, that I have been using for two months, without (sorry) any experience of mixers and recorders. I already achieved good results in terms of sound, but I still have a lot to learn, so forgive me a little question that risks to sound stupid to many. I experimented the internal effects of the machine and I love the plate reverb for my voice and the flanger for my electric guitar. The question: is it possible to assign an effect to a track and a different one to another track? I read the manual again and again, but, sorry, I just can’t understand if it is possible and how…

"Welcome To The Show! We have some lovely prizes for you, just for participating..."
Sorry. I watched a lot of TV as a kid.
What I meant was: welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new Model12!

I'm no rocket surgeon (more like the Village Idiot)...NOR do I own a Modelxx...and am too lazy/indifferent to research it for you.

BUT - if it helps: assuming you're using a "Send" affect - no; you can only select one effect (or in some units, effects "blocks"); and ALL channels that are "sent" out the FX buss will go to the selected effect.

One possible solution (IF the Model12 has multiple sends) is to send your vocal track and the git'r track out via DIFFERENT Send/Aux busses, using an internal effect on one and an external effect on the other.
This is basic routing planning, and is extensively covered in the various "Stickies" posts, which just by owning your Model12 would benefit you GREATLY to read & understand. You might also benefit from @Phil Tipping 's excellent series of videos - he's actually demonstrating the DP-32xx, but the concepts are important to understand, and he vividly demonstrates/explains them, including extensive use of the Block Diagram, which is a very important tool for understanding/visualizing routing.

Good luck, and happy recording!

Better that “A simple plan”! (sorry, I watched a lot of movies😉): a good routing planning, that’s what I need and I didn’t know to need!
Thank you, I will follow your (precious) suggestions, you made me jump a wall: I know It’s a long way, but now I can run again🎸🎸🎸🎸
good music to you

Well...if the implication is that English isn't your "first"/main language: you did fine. A moron like ME understood you. And I actually OWN a copy of "A Simple Plan" - GREAT movie!!! 🎬

In any case: yes, absolutely, understanding routing is VERY important. It solves many problems and creates many solutions in the studio. That's why I mentioned the Block Diagram - for many people, being able to "see" (visualize) the signal flow through different parts of the signal chain is very helpful.

As long as you're in the learning mode - search the forum, and/or google: "gain staging". It'll help your sounds be recording like you hear them in your head!
Good luck -
