No, not in a very long time. Years ago I used to do that at every gig, particularly measuring between the metal pop screen of the vocal mic and the pickup covers of the guitar. I hate getting zapped on the lips! That practice did save me a few times. I will probably do some tests when I have some spare time as this is a very interesting topic.I don't think it matters as the current is so small. As they say "It's volts that jolts, but mils that kills".
Have you tried a multi-meter on any of your 'floating' gear?
