DM-3200 Screen on Computer via USB?

Oh I agree- my expressed anger above is really just internet-anger, I'm not writing letters to my senator or anything ;) and if it weren't for the screen, I wouldn't have gotten such a killer deal as I got on my 4800. I don't think eBay is particularly representative of the DM market though as it's limited strictly to folks who are willing and able to list on eBay- I'd wager that the majority of DM owners don't regularly deal with freight shipping, for one, and then you have to factor in the financial cut eBay and Paypal take- ~$100 in fees on an $800 transaction. I've found that if you're willing to take a road trip with a van or truck, person-to-person contact via Craigslist (or sometimes even via eBay, but outside of eBay) is the best way to go- I've purchased several very nice analog boards for live sound this route, all for significantly less than I'd have spent on eBay... of course, that's through the east coast and midwest, I don't know what the markets are like out west.

incidentally- I had another line show up on my screen last night, and actually witnessed its manifestation. I was adjusting down the contrast and it just appeared, disappeared for a few seconds, then flickered on off rapidly before solidifying itself. Was a consensus ever reached on what causes the lines to appear? I find it interesting that my screen had (according to the original owner) has 14 lines that showed up over night on the top half of the screen (he attributed this to the power source he'd had it plugged into that day) then no changes for over 5 years, then suddenly this month more than twice as many lines and seemingly more on the way.
