DM 3200/4800 - Windows 10 Compatibility - My Final Results

Hello, i'm new here but have learned a lot from this forum, thank you guys for sharing!

I'm using the DM4800 for several years now with W7, now i have upgraded my PC to W11 (i9 processor), after struggeling with different Firewire cards i have it running with the TI TSB43AB23 chipset and 1.30f9 FW driver (release 176851), but now on the DM sometimes it works great and sometimes i have the message on IF card: "driver offline" and no connectio to the PC, and on the DM4800 there is no respons from fader movements anymore, i can still adjust volumes via the menu but no respons from all faders. Re-loded DM firmware 1.7 with same result (via an older PC with TC companoin 1.51).

Can someone tell where to find DM4800 beta firmware 1.72b3 ?
Maybe this could solve this issue...
Thank you in advance!

@NeverTheHero Is there any particular reason why you chose to use an italic font for your post

@NeverTheHero No worries brother. I'll see what I can dig up if anything. Not quite sure if that specific beta version was/is in circulation

@NeverTheHero Here you go. noth 1.72 b3 and b4 firmware. Please note this is for the DM4800 only and not the DM3200.

Here is the info I have on the last firmware -

Firmware V1.72b4 - Fix rare unwanted Digital IN Popup messages

dm3200_V172_232267_Trunk.tfi 4.3MB
dm4800_V172_221173_Trunk.tfi 5.3MB

Firmware V1.72b3 - cascade fix for remote layer

dm3200_V172_168046_Trunk.tfi 4.3MB
dm4800_V172_168008_Trunk.tfi 5.3MB

Hope this helps you. Cheers.

Dear Juzz thank you for your fast respons and the DM4800_V1.72 file!!
I'll give it a try asap and let you know the outcome.

Hello again, finally find the time to give an update, sorry for the delay:

I'm using the DM4800 for several years now with W7, now i have upgraded my PC (i9 processor) and i use W11 and Cubase 14PRO.
I have to try different Firewire cards to get a locked FireWire connection:
first time started with the FireWire card “ING-4732506 - 2-poorts PCIe FireWire”, i was not able to get it locked on both DM and PC, and this setup destroyed (?) my Compact Flash Card on the DM: i got the message there was no card and i was also not able to format the card…, have to use another card to be able to format the card or to store a project.
I got it running with the Digitus DS-30201-5 FireWire 400-controll card, TI TSB43AB23 chipset and 1.30f9 FW driver (release 176851), sometimes it works great and sometimes
its not locked after starting DM and PC, on the PC the fire wire connection is always stated as “Locked”, even if is stated on the DM “Not Locked” or “Driver offline”, i have to restart the PC to have them both Locked and to have sound. (Locked on DM and PC).
It makes no difference starting the PC first, or starting the DM first.

On the DM4800 there is sometimes another issue: no response from fader movements anymore, i can still adjust volumes via the menu but no response from all faders. Re-loaded DM firmware 1.72b3 (168008) and also 1.72b4 (221173) with same result (via an older PC with TC companion 1.51).
Sometimes when starting up the DM even on its own i have the issue of faders not responding, other times all is OK…, very unstable…
Have tried another (faster) Compact flash card (126Mb 12x instead of 4x) with no difference in behaviour…
Sometimes i all comes good after a certain time when DM and PC is running, and sometimes Faders in the DM remain without effect when moving (i still can change volumes when i flip faders and rotary pots), everything else on the DM seems to work fine.

To my feeling i think this is an USB issue (thats why i tried changing the Compact Flash card), tried USB3 and USB2 ports but that seem to make no difference…

What more can I do? Any ideas?
Thanx in advance!

Hi There, Regarding your first issue- I wouldn't use W11. Try W10 instead. I believe that there are firewire stability issues with W11.

Regarding the second issue- I would do a factory reset on the DM4800. Sounds like something has gone astray with your scene saves with the CF card. Here are the instructions-
FACTORY RESET:
1) Power Down the DM3200 or DM4800

2) At the same time hold down the Shift button, the 1 and 2 button under
the OUT PUT ASSIGN

3) While holding down these buttons, power up the Dm 3200 or 4800. At
the top of the LCD screen, you should see Diagnostics Mode on startup
and the screen will switch to the main Diagnostic Page.

4) Use your up cursor Arrow to select SRAM INIT for Factory press enter.
A screen will appear SRAM INIT FOR FACTORY INITIALIZE PRESS ENTER TO
CONFIRM, OR A CURSOR KEY TO CANCEL, press Enter.

5) Now press your down cursor arrow to SRAM INIT and repeat step 4.

6)The Cursor should be pointing to exit, press ENTER. The DM is set back to
Factory Default.

Hope this helps.

Hi Justin thanks for you reply and info!

Concerning W11: i have bougth this new PC with W11 installed, i dont know if it is feasable for a non IT guy like me (electronics) to go back to W10, but if this would be a solution...
I have read on a forum that this Firewire card is very stable with W11: https://www.delock.com/produkt/89153/merkmale.html?g=1114
Is someone has experience with an audio setup with this card on W11?

Regarding non responsive faders: i have perfermed a factory reset as you decribed (i did it again, and i did it before but i forgot to mention previously, sorry), and at first all worked well, but then as soon i switched on the PC, faders became non responcive again, other times faders are not ok at startup of the DM, or are becoming ok after a certain time..., very unstable....

So to my feeling this is a USB issue, and it must be from PC side i think (was fine with older PC on W7), i dont use remote control for Cubase, i only have setup a MIDI device to be able to use the transport controls on de DM (start/stop/FF/REW/Record), and set up the project time on the meter bridge (send project time code to midi ch1).
All Midi ports in and out schow up on Cubase and look ok...,

Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanx!
