Well...I useta think these in-sayne gear-scores/snags came along just because I keep my eyes out for it. But now I think it's all over the place - you just haveta notice.
This week I was looking at the 'musical instruments' section in the local CraigsList (for non-US folks, that's an online person-to-person marketplace).
A git'r enthusiast who lives in my area (yes, there are a few other people living here) had a "pedal board" (really just his massive collection of pedals) as long as my couch. I counted THIRTY-FOUR pedals of every type, ranging from various BOSS stomps to Strymons and Morleys, and everything in between.
He was selling his ENTIRE gear setup (including a lovely US Strat and a couple nice amps); because of the election results, he's leaving the country - he listed his house 2 days after the election, already has a contract on it, and is closing in 3 weeks.
I did a rudimentary "toting up" and figured it was close to US$3000 on the Reverb/eBay market.
He was selling the whole lot for US$350.
Other than a couple of pretty unique/tasty pieces, I didn't necessary want them for MY setup...but I thought about buying it, then gradually selling them in my Reverb store or even eBay.
I was mulling over whether I wanted the hassle (the US has changed it's tax laws to complicate gear sales between private parties; it's now so absurdy complicated, that it's literally not worth it)...and the guy sold the whole lot WITHIN AN HOUR.
Snooze, ya lose...
