DP24SD Multitrack
Hello Tascam community. I'm not very experienced in digital recording. I bought a DP 24 SD to write music and record demo's with and potentially record some small groups with. I'm sure this is a silly question and I'm just missing the obvious. But after I recorded a guitar track to Track #1, I went to record a bass track to #2. I followed all the same steps as track 1 and I have a signal and everything looks fine. But then when I press play, all I can hear is track one the guitar. No more bass signal, no sound. What am I missing? Where did my signal on track 2 go? I apologize for asking what I'm sure is a stupid question, but I just can't figure out what I'm missing. Thanks for any help.

Hi @JohnnyD81 - "welcome to the show. We have lovely prizes for you, just for participating..."
Sorry. Watched a lot of TV as a kid.
ANYway. Congrats on nabbing a DP. They're great!

Unfortunately - as you've quickly found out - it's no Nintendo GameBoy...it's a powerful, capable unit with a vast array of options, settings, and capabilities and presents a pretty steep initial learning curve, and it kinda never stops.
You'd be well-served to spend some time reading the "sticky posts" at the top of this forum category, and most of us have found Phil Tipping's marvelous videos to be informative and helpful.
And - as the DP's Owner's Manual was clearly written by drug-addled mental patients whose knowledge of English is limited to Seinfeld reruns, you should also consider PhilT's most-excellent User's Guide. Worth every nickel.
Links to all of these are right here within this forum.

And there's a few guyz here on the forum who're smart enough to telepathically understand your issue/s and offer suggestions, which they're usually happy to do (assuming you've done your due diligence already).
Good luck and have fun!

Raise the fader on track 2.

^--- Even better -- DO BOTH of the above suggestions!

Phil's guide is AWESOME! So are -mjk-'s contributions here, and it's great to see Shredd giving sound (no pun intended!) advice too.

There's a great and responsive group of folks on here for sure; but those stickies up above and Phil's guide are invaluable IMHO -- and can answer most questions offline or after-hours, with no waiting.

@JohnnyD81 did come back (at 12:06pm my time on Monday Nov 10th); so very likely had seen shredd's post (Nov 10th @ 9:42am my time) and maybe then was able to figured it out on his own.

The "Quick Start" section of the DP-24SD OM (p14) gives the step-by-step instructions for overdubbing a new track. The unambiguous title of it is "Recording a guitar to TRACK 2"; and unlike some of the more esoteric parts of the OM, those quick start instructions are crystal clear.
