Hey All,

This has probably been posted on the old forum or this forum, but on the chance there are some that do not know about it, here is a way to have a recording in progress saved if the power goes out (or your machine is accidentally turned off) during the recording:

1. Create a TapeMode project of the desired length, track width, etc.
2. Punch into record for a couple seconds across all tracks at the beginning & end
of that project.
3. TapeMode Convert that project to a new project.
4. Record into that new project - it is impervious to data loss from power failure
because you're recording into the data of the files that already have closed
headers. As long as you stay within the time defined in step #1, you're good.

The vast majority of recording I do with our MX-2424s is live recording, so this has been a life saver a few times.
I do this all the time with projects that are nearly 4 hours long, 24-bit, 48kHz, and all 24 tracks.
Makes the MX-2424 act even MORE like a tape machine, which of course would have everything on tape up to the point of power failure!

My friend Jim Bailey at Tascam turned me on this technique when I was in contact with him back in the day during the development of the X-48.
We can all thank Jim for helping guide the MX-2424 into the fantastic pro machine it turned out to be.
Wish I would have had a chance to thank the TimeLine people.

Kind regards,
Jeffrey Bruton
