Issues with mute on the 24

I have a model 24 and none of the channels will mute while running to the headphones. Only mute that works is the Bluetooth mute button on the Bluetooth section. Have tried mics, instruments and Bluetooth music nothing mutes via pfl but does mute on mains/monitors. I just purchased this for at home recording. Is there something I am missing or is my 24 possibly defective? Thanks!

Do the mutes work in non-PFL mode?

Yes when I mute sound going through the mains it mutes fine, all mute lights also light up on the board. Just will not mute the sound going to headset.

"PFL" means "Pre-fader Listen". You are monitoring the signal before the mute button and the channel fader (that's what PFL mode is for).

From the manual, page 23:

"Connecting monitor speakers

Connect monitor speakers (powered speakers or an amplifier and speaker system) to the CONTROL ROOM L/R jacks.
Depending on the PFL switch and AFL switch settings, signals from the MAIN MIX L/R bus and PFL/AFL L/R bus can be monitored Use the CONTROL ROOM knob to adjust the speaker volume.

Connecting headphones
Connect headphones to the PHONES jack (standard stereo).
Depending on the PFL switch and AFL switch settings, signals from the MAIN MIX L/R bus and PFL/AFL L/R bus can be monitored"

For both the headphones and the monitors, you have the choice of monitoring PFL, AFL, or Mix L/R. I think you want to monitor the stereo mix and not PFL.

Right but the only afl switches are on Mon 1&2. Am I missing something. I don't see anything in any menu about switching monitor mixes. I want to mute things going to my headphones none of the channels have an afl button outside of mon 1&2.
