I am pretty confused by the whole effects routing thing, to be honest, in particular the interaction between Aux 2 pot, fader slider, and effects returns. Having confessed my idiocy can someone help me understand this?
1) In a perfect world I want to set things up so I could control the level of effect for each individual channel with a single control: if that control is off the sound is "dry" and if it's at 100% then the sound is 100% routed through the effect. I do not care if that control happens on the channel strip or in the fader section.
In a less perfect world I would do that for only one channel at a time--vocal reverb for example.
Is that possible? If so, what combination of Aux2 pot, effects fader, etc. do I use to do this?
2) Not to sound like even MORE of an idiot, but what is the reason that someone (who knows what they are doing) would return the effect to a subchannel such as aux1? If it's possible there must be a reason why.
