Hello to the TASCAM DP Forum (got a DP 32 SD now)

DP 32 SD
Last Weekend I got mine.... a second Hand DP 32 SD Machine.
Before that I got into lots of Information about it and had Contact to Phil through his Homepage and got me the Downloads he offers to get along in a good way with that.
Sure - it will take me some time to really get into. But thanks to his Videos I get a introduction and well Guidance to Step in, which I much appreciate, thaks Phil and all Helpers here.

First thing I did was Downloading, Unzipping and transferring the actual TASCAM Firmware 1.11 for the Machine through the USB connection to my Computer. Still Windows 10 on it though.

The Card in the Machine was already full formatted by the former owner, he used an Adapter for a Micro SD Card, inserted was a No Name HC 4GB Class 10 MicroSD.

He was a Guitarplayer that bought the DP, used it for some Experience, then stopped using it some years ago. His musical Companion found it in a very good condition stored together with other Equipement in his legacy, and was allowed by the family to offer it in a private advert. This is where I got it from.

Next thing was getting me a SD Card SanDisk Extreme Pro at some serious online Store, 2 Shops I visited in Town were Empty of these. I live in Germany, quite near to City of Marburg.

Then I did a FULL Formatting - which took quite a while- got back to Phils second Tutorial Video, initialized and created the !FACTORY01 Song (thats my Name to it) as shown, also protected it.

From That Point I created a new Song and called it !FIRSTrec01 as a Template.
Here I assigned the Tracks A to H to 1-8, then I changed the STEREO Tracks 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15/16, 17/18, 19/20, 21/22 and 23/24 to MONO Tracks, which I like best for my Needs now.
Then I left the Macine saving the Data.

So thats my Work for today, maybe later some more. I may appear here from Time to Time as I get forward and have serious Problems or dont understand in a way to get forward efficently.

Well, I do have experience with a ZOOM R8, way before I had a YAMAHA MD4s and MD8.
Quick Recordings I do using a ZOOM H2.

Actually I use self created Rhythms of the Boss DR01s and play acoustic Guitar, Vocals, Bluesharmonica to these Rhythms. Mainly for preparing for Sessions with local friends, using Mono Tracks. Or just Training or some Songs I like to save here:


So lets see what comes......

Congrats! DP's are terrific.

You've wisely taken a good road: 'do your homework', watch the videos, consulted PhilT and got his User's Guide (100 times better than Tascam's feeble manual!), and practiced.
Another very important resource: the "Sticky Threads" at the top of this forum category. They were written/posted by the smartest doods to ever use a DP, and the info in them is both essential and accessible. Read them - read them ALL.
And most importantly - develop and maintain a good backup routine!
