I have been using a DR40 for 5 years to record DJing sets (four channels so get crowd noise too). I don't know how to mix them together so I just take the direct recording from the DJ mixer channels and send it on to the people who need it. There hasn't;t been any problems. I use it about 4 times a month.
My latest recording are all crackly - unusable. Could it be an issue with the settings? I don't really understand them so any advice would be appreciated. In each case it has been the same DJ mixer (which was recently serviced) and using the same phono cables. I can check with another mixer and cables but I wanted to get a steer on the settings too.
