I'm using the DR-40 set on 4 channels, with one voice mask (think XLR microphone) attached on the left side, nothing connected on the right side. My EXT IN is set at 1/2. My goal is to combine the 1/2 and the 3/4 recordings into one recording with two independent tracks or channels so I can switch between each one and hear what's on it, but while playing the entire recording. I think my answer lies in the mixer settings, but dang if I can figure out how to set the SEND, PAN, LVL. I don't know squat about recorders.
Here's another way of saying what I'm trying to get - I have the NCH Express Scribe transcriber, which can play two channels off a single track. I want to be able to load my Tascam recording into ES and play the recording, switching between the two channels seamlessly. I could do it on my Martel recordings, but cannot figure the Tascam out.
I can get the internal microphone recording on one channel of the Express Scribe, but on the other channel I get both microphones. Help!
