I am finally getting around to setting up my DM 24 with my mx 2424 . I can play a project on the mx and the signal is fine to the dm over the tdif interface. But when I go to record I get no signal on the mx. I hope I am doing something stupid and don't have an interface or worse problems . Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful (I have been struggling for the last couple of days with this)

Check your input settings and be sure they are all set to digi in -- I think it is in the menu 400 area. On the MX, press SETUP, 4 then scroll till you find the input settings. If they aren't DIGI IN, press TRIM and scroll till it is DIGI IN then press YES.

I'll check it when I get home. I think I have it set to dig in but will have to check to be sure. I remember scrolling through everything trying to make sure the settings were correct. But can't be sure.

Ok, I'm at home now and checked and the inputs are all set to Digi In, but I still have no signal at the MX. Don't know what to check next.

Turn the monitor and headphones down.
Try sending the oscillator to the busses -- go to the monitor page, oscillator layer and assign the oscillator to all 8 busses. Press the button under OSCILLATOR. Then go to the meter page. Using the cursor keys, select masters. See if there is signal going out busses 1-8. If yes, put the MX on input and see if it is making the trip.

I have signal at the MX form the osc on all 8 buss channels. So I guess that we can at least say that they are talking to each other,

OK so the path is open and working. What are you trying to send that doesn't get to the MX?

I'm trying to record a guitar on channels 1 and 2. I have plenty of signal on the dm meters.

Turn off the oscillator.
Ok, so we know that the guitar is getting to the console and the TDIF path to the MX is good. The next thing to check is the DM output routing. Check the output path from the faders the guitar is coming in. You can do that with the SEL button for each channel. Press the SEL and look and the assignment section to see that 1 or 2 is selected for each channel. NOTE: the pans are active on the buss assigns on the DM24. Make sure the fader feeding channel 1 is panned hard left. etc.

Bingo, Mike you are a lifesaver!! The problem was that the channels were not assigned. There is just so much to learn. I deeply appreciate you taking the time to help me.
